Faculty of Business and Informatics
In the Faculty of Business and Informatics, students learn a well-balanced mixture of courses in business and information systems, which get them ready for facing various challenges in society. This explains the large number of compulsory subjects during the freshman year.
English Language Education (Departments of Business Administration and Information Systems)
The Faculty of Business and Informatics equips students with the English proficiency necessary for cross-cultural understanding and communication. Through attending English classes continuously for three years, they acquire practical communicative skills in English.
Furthermore, those who wish can attend a four-week summer seminar at the University of Alberta in Canada during their sophomore or junior year.
Department of Business Administration
The Department of Business Administration aims to nurture individuals who can contribute to the local community with strong problem-solving skills in business, through educating them of the four aspects of resource management: Human, Material, Money, and Information.
Students conduct research independently and creatively. They expand their insights into practical subjects beneficial for society from their own areas of interest. They acquire useful skills for the future through actually conducting research rooted in the local community.
Seminars (Department of Business Administration)
Seminars are one of the key features of the Department of Business Administration. Students belong in a seminar all throughout their university life.
In the freshman seminars, students learn basic skills for university study, including data-gathering, presentation and working in teams. During their sophomore year, students join different seminars during the first and second semesters, where they deepen their understanding in specialist areas. Throughout the final two years, students dwell in the same seminar, which enables them to deepen their understanding of a specialist area of choice, and complete their undergraduate theses.
Community-based Education (Department of Business Administration)
Another notable feature of the Department of Business Administration is the application of students’ learning for the benefit of the local community.
Department of Information Systems
The Department of Information Systems aims to nurture individuals who can utilize information to create new values and actively manufacture goods based on information systems.
Students conduct research independently and creatively. They expand their insights into practical subjects beneficial for society from their own areas of interest. They acquire useful skills for the future through actually conducting research rooted in the local community.
Seminars and Practicums (Department of Business Administration)
In the Department of Business Administration, students go through Basic Seminars, Information Systems Practicum, Undergraduate Research and Thesis, all of which are conducted in small groups.
In the freshman seminars, students learn basic skills for university study, including data-gathering, presentation and working in teams. During their sophomore year, students learn a wide range of basic knowledge and skills necessary for developing information systems. Throughout the final two years, students dwell in the same seminar, where they focus on learning specialist areas of informatics.
Areas Covered in Seminars (Department of Information Systems)
The areas covered in the seminars of the Department of Information Systems include: Software engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, image processing, information security, mathematical logic, information systems, information communication, etc. These seminars also conduct various community-based activities.
